About me

Understanding why someone gets stuck is often easier than figuring out how to get unstuck. That second part is what I find particularly interesting: exploring together what is happening, which patterns are playing a role and what is needed to create real change.
To me, good therapy requires a combination of personal attention, clear goals and an approach that fits the person sitting across from me. Sometimes the focus is on understanding and gaining insight. At other times, it is more about practising, experiencing or facing something that feels challenging.
Therapy can be serious without always having to feel heavy. That is why clarity, honesty and humour all have a place in the therapy room.

My background
With over ten years of experience as a psychologist, I have worked in various mental health care settings, including crisis care, addiction care and generalist basic mental health care. As a GZ psychologist, my focus is on short term, goal oriented treatment. I have also further specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR and Schema Therapy, complemented by techniques such as exposure and Imagery Rescripting.
This broad experience helps me look beyond the symptoms someone comes in with. What is keeping the symptoms going? Which patterns are involved? And most importantly: what can be done differently?

Working together
Therapy is not a process in which the psychologist tells you what to do. Your experiences, goals and perspective are the starting point, while my knowledge and experience help provide direction.
Sometimes this means taking the time to understand what has happened. At other times, it means taking action and trying something new.
In the beginning, you may need a few more training wheels. As you gain confidence in your own abilities, those training wheels can gradually come off.
The ultimate goal is not to become dependent on therapy, but to be able to move forward on your own.
In other words: how can we make sure you can get rid of me as quickly as possible? ;)

My approach might be right for you
